Biology
Funnel weaver spiders are a large group also known as "grass spiders”. They are fast-moving spiders that construct flat webs in grass and shrubs often near structures. The web contains a retreat (funnel) where the spider lurks in wait for prey to land on the web. When this happens, the spider darts out to capture the prey. Funnel weavers are common and found throughout most of the United States, but these are of different species than the highly dangerous Sydney funnel-web spider of Australia.

Damage
Medical Importance: These spiders are extremely fast and shy. Consequently, very few people are bitten. Their bites have been reported to cause pain, swelling, redness, and itching, with a duration of symptoms ranging from 1 to 10 days but without serious consequences.
